Kickin' It with Alpha Chi Raises Money for Domestic Violence Awareness

Each semester, the Delta Pi chapter hosts a philanthropy event to help raise funds and support for our national and local philanthropies, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, YWCA and Knoxville Family Justice Center.  This October, in coordination with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we hosted our Second Annual Kickin' It with Alpha Chi kickball tournament encouraging the University of Tennessee community to come out in support of a cause near and dear to our hearts. Our sisters coached teams to victory and cheered after every home run. We enjoyed every minute getting to know other campus organizations and were moved by the support we received. We raised over $1,500 for our philanthropy and are excited to present the money to our local philanthropies. A special thanks to all the teams who played and to our VP of Philanthropy, Polly Ann, for organizing the event.

COLOR ME ALPHA CHI

There is nothing quite as exciting as a paint war between sisters - okay, there might be, but for the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega we look forward to our annual sisterhood event Color Me Alpha Chi. Not only does it give us the opportunity to strengthen our bond as a chapter, but it also gives our sisters the chance to make new friendships between pledge classes.

This year's sisterhood event consisted of field games that required team work to succeed. Our chapter split up based on our birthday's creating a unique opportunity for older members to bond with our newest members. We learned that falling in the wheel barrow race can be fun when your sister quickly picks you up and encourages you to keep going. We learned that over-under with yellow paint can be daunting but at the end of the day you grin and bare the color running down your face in order to finish the task. But most importantly, our sisterhood learned that each one of us brings a unique color to our chapter and when mixed together can make for an amazing, bright sisterhood.

A special thanks goes to Natalie Grossman and her committee for putting on the event and to all the sisters who came out to participate!

Recruitment Time in Tennessee

Recruitment has come and gone at the University of Tennessee, and the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega could not be more thrilled with our new member class! Every year, recruitment brings excitement to our chapter as we meet wonderful young women who potentially will wear our letters. This year proved no different as we met over 1000 women, which has been the largest formal recruitment in UT history! Our Recruitment Team, led by Sydney Sherrod, worked tirelessly the entire week to ensure every round was perfect. With their guidance we were prepared, confident and excited to meet our future sisters.

Each round was beautifully designed by our Day Chairs – and their commitment to perfection was definitely noted by the women going through recruitment and our sisters who loved taking pictures in our chapter room before each round…

Though everyday was exciting, Bid Day held the most excitement. Alpha Chi was decorated in all things paradise and we all truly thought we were on the beach. (Okay, most of us probably were wishing that.) Welcoming our new members was such a rewarding moment because we knew all our hard work paid off, and we are thrilled to see each grow as members of Delta Pi. Bid Day also brought our Gamma Chis home! We missed all of them so much and are so proud of their dedication to the Panhellenic community.

Alpha Chi is definitely looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait for what is to come!

3rd Annual Dodging Domestic Violence Dodgeball Tournament

The end of March brought the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega our favorite philanthropy event- our annual Dodgeball tournament. Supporting the victims of domestic violence is a passion for us and it is wonderful to see our Greek community come together to help support our cause, as well. We had teams from several fraternities and sororities compete for the championship title this year! A huge congratulations to the men of Lambda Chi Alpha and the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma for taking first place. Our sisters had so much fun being team’s coaches, refs and loyal fan base. The proceeds we raised will benefit the Knoxville YWCA and we are so excited to present them with our donation!

Alpha Chi Omega: Socials

A monkey and banana, Mickey & Minnie, SpongeBob and Patrick all in one chapter... No, this is not the start of a joke, but rather, some of the costumes the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega wore this past month at mixers and our date party.

At the start of the month, the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon invited us to a “Disney vs. Nickelodeon” themed mixer. In attendance was the entire gang of Bikini Bottom, Disney princesses, a couple villains, the cast of Recess and many more. We always have a ton of fun with the Sig Eps and were thrilled to have our first mixer of 2015 with them!

“Snow never bothered us anyway” should have been the theme for our date party. After being postponed due to an ice storm, the sisters of Alpha Chi braved the six inches of falling snow to attend the rescheduled date party. And it was worth it! Sisters showed up in some of the most creative costumes for our “Pair-adise” date party! Barbie and Ken were there, Pizza and Netflix, Princess Peach and Mario and a lot of other top-notch characters. Gossip Girl’s Blaire and Serena were even in attendance curtsey of our president, Alaina Gregerson and VP of Chapter Relations, Carley Carter.

With such a fun first two months back to school, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds!
